Why should you use a carpet rake?
- Revive crushed matted pile in high traffic areas.
- Raise ground-in dirt to the surface for effective vacuuming.
- Remove embedded pet hair.
- Erase vacuum cleaner tracks.
- Restore carpet pile after shampooing.
- Quickly revitalize carpet without vacuuming.
|
| Using a "push-pull" motion will allow the specially designed
tines to reach the base of the carpet tufts, separating & freeing the individual fibers of dirt, pet hair, debris that vacuuming cannot get.
|
Using a pulling motion to lift the carpet pile, restructuring the original design. This motion will also give the carpet the finished grooming to give a "Like New" appearance.

Surface Spots are lodged on surface fibers of carpeting.
- Ground Dirt
- Candy
- Shoe Scuff Polish
- Food Substances
- Tar Spots
- Release dry soil and vacuum before applying any moisture.
- Use clean absorbent cloth, either bath or hand towel material (terrycloth) or a soft knit fabric (tee shirt).
- Apply Perky Spotter to the cloth then use a light rubbing motion, forward-backward and/or sideways, rather than circular. Avoid rough rubbing to prevent pile (yarn) distortion.
- As the soil of the spot is absorbed into the cloth, shift the action to a clean area of the cloth and repeat steps 2 and 3.
- When spot is satisfactorily removed, wipe over treated area with a dry section of the cloth to absorb excess moisture.
- If carpet pattern becomes matted use Handi Groom to reconstruct the appearance.

Absorbed and Saturated Spots & Stains are quickly absorbed to the depth of the carpeting. Untreated, serious damage may occur by chemical reaction and color stain-set. Immediate treatment should be initiated as soon as possible.
- Drink Spills
- Liquid Foods
- Animal Accidents
- Blood
- Vomit
- Cosmetics (except fingernail polish)
- Latex Paint (fresh spills)
- Inks - Including Copy Toner
- Remove excess residue (top soiling substances). A Handi Groom is an essential tool in this step and throughout the entire cleansing process. Use the built-in spatula/squeegee portion of the groomer to lift off excess substance onto paper toweling for disposal.
- Apply Perky Spotter by squirting it directly from the container. Apply an adequate amount in the complete area of the spill. If the area is extensive, treat a 3" x 3" section at a time.
- Use the Handi Groom (somewhat vigorously) to activate the cleansing action. The Handi Groom is designed to act between the yarns thereby preventing yarn and fabric damage.
- Extract the excess liquid lather with a wet-vac extractor or by using the spatula/squeegee end of the Handi Groom squeegee until no more liquid can be extracted.
- The Handi Groom is the tool that will effectively and pleasingly put on the finishing touches to this procedure. Use a combing action to lift the yarns. Comb lightly over-all to match the pile lay of the adjacent untreated carpet.
- No rinsing is required. After finishing avoid traffic until dry.

- Remove excess soil residue. If wet, scrape off from the fabric surface. If dry, brush to release and loosen crusted and embedded soil particles. The Whizgroom in the Handikit is designed to effectively deal with both situations.
- Apply Perky Spotter, an adequate amount, to an absorbent cloth, towel or knit fabric.
- Transfer moisture to the fabric and rub gently. The released soil will be absorbed onto the cloth.
- Repeat steps 2 & 3 at a clean section of the working cloth until the soil has been lifted and satisfactorily cleaned.
- Whenever possible, place an absorbent (clean) cloth, folded once or twice, under the fabric to absorb released soil particles. If the area treated has excess soil substance, move the under cloth to a clean segment. Use the Whizgroom to assist the cleaning action.
- When satisfactorily removed, wipe with a clean, dry cloth. Blot out the excess moisture to avoid watermark and ring.
